Stingray Swim Team
The YMCA Swim Team is based on the YMCA Principles of competitive swimming and character values. We believe that everybody swims and everybody wins.All fees are season fees & cannot be prorated for late registration or for those not completing the season.
- ALL SWIMMERS MUST BE YMCA MEMBERS
- Booster Fees: There is a $25 Spring/Summer Booster Club fee for each family if registering for our Spring Summer Team, and a $35 Fall/Winter Season Booster Club fee for each family if registering for our Fall Winter Team. These fees should be paid when registering your swimmer(s)
All of the above needs to be completed prior to the swimmer(s) first practice. No swimmers may can be admitted into practice until all of the above has been completed.
Each year we normally offer the following competitive programs:
- Fall Technique & Endurance Clinics (Normally offered in September
- Fall/Winter Swim team normally begins the first Monday in October & continues until the the YMCA District Meet deadline. after that point only District Qualifyers continue practice.
- Spring Technique & Endurance Clinics (Normally offered in April)
- Spring/Summer Swim team normally begins the first Monday in May.
2024 Blue Practice Session - Spring/Summer Team
Parent Orientation meeting: Monday, April 29, at 6:30 p.m.
Practice will begin the week of May 13, 2024 . Our season concludes after our final meet of the season…Normally the last weekend of July or the first week of August.
All Swim Team Members must be current Greater Scranton YMCA members.
BLUE PRACTICE: This practice focuses on teaching the four competitive strokes, starts & turns & improving technique for those new to competitive swimming or our younger swimmers with 1-2 years of competitive team experience.
- Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday: 6:30-7:30 pm & Saturdays 7:30 – 8:30 am
WHITE PRACTICE: For the more dedicated swimmer who is proficient in all four competitive strokes, starts & turns. Swimmers should have a minimum of 3-4 years of competitive experience. Our coaches will determine which swimmers are ready for the longer practice sessions.
- Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday: 6:30-8:00 pm & Saturday 7:30-9:00 am
***any week that we have a Summer League swim meet on a Wednesday night, there will not be practice on that Wednesday.
Fees: The season fees are shown below. The fees can be paid in full OR automatic drafts can be set up as shown below:
- Blue Practice Payment in Full (due when registering): $240
- Blue Practice Automatic Monthly Drafts (3 payments): $80
- White Practice Payment in Full (due when registering): $294
- White Practice Automatic Monthly Drafts (3 payments): $98
- Draft Dates for Automatic Payments from the account of your choice:
- 1st Draft: When Registering
- 2nd Draft: June 1, 2024
- 3rd Draft: July 1, 2024
There is a $25 Summer Booster fee for each family. This should be paid when registering your swimmer(s). This is used to cover coaches travel expenses for any away meets, any equipment (stopwatches, printer ink, etc needed for home meets and also to cover our end of season Swim Team Picnic.

Spring Competitive "BEGINNER" Swim Clinic
This one-week program is designed to introduce beginner swimmers to various aspects of competitive swimming. Swimmers will be introduced to the four competitive strokes along with swim drills, stroke technique, and the basics of proper starts and turns. This program is offered to beginners who are at least six (6) years old. Swimmers should be able to swim at least one length of the pool (twenty-five yards)without the use of any swim aids, be able to jump into the deep end of our pool, and be comfortable in deep water and with putting their face into the water.

Spring Competitive "Stroke Refinement" Swim Clinic
This one-week program is designed to refine strokes previously developed within a competitive swim team. Swimmers will work on breathing technique, body position, body alignment and overall conditioning for each of the four competitive strokes. This clinic will fine-tune strokes through numerous drills for the next swim season.

Summer Booster Club Family Fee
Our Summer Booster Club Family Fee is used to provide extras for our swim team members to help make the swim team summer season rewarding for our swimmers. These funds would be used to purchase any equipment needed to conduct our meet such as stopwatches, printer ink, equipment replacement if needed, etc. These funds are also used to provide any team spirit event for the swimmers as well as our end of summer team picnic.
This fee is per family whether you have one swimmer or four swimmers on our team.
