Stingray Swim Team
The YMCA Swim Team is based on the YMCA Principles of competitive swimming and character values. We believe that everybody swims and everybody wins.All fees are season fees & cannot be prorated for late registration or for those not completing the season.
- ALL SWIMMERS MUST BE YMCA MEMBERS
- Booster Fees: There is a $25 Spring/Summer Booster Club fee for each family if registering for our Spring Summer Team, and a $35 Fall/Winter Season Booster Club fee for each family if registering for our Fall Winter Team. These fees should be paid when registering your swimmer(s)
All of the above needs to be completed prior to the swimmer(s) first practice. No swimmers may can be admitted into practice until all of the above has been completed.
Each year we normally offer the following competitive programs:
- Fall Clinics (Normally offered in August & September
- Fall/Winter Swim team normally begins the first Monday in October & continues until the the YMCA District Meet deadline. after that point only District Qualifyers continue practice.
- Spring Clinics (Normally offered in April)
- Spring/Summer Swim team normally begins the first Monday in May.
01 Fall Clinic #1: Freestyle & Backstroke
Our Competitive Stroke Technique clinics are for swimmers ages 6 through 18 years of age. Swimmers will be placed in groups according to their swimming ability. During the clinics, new or younger swimmers will receive instruction on swimming the strokes, and experienced swimmers will spend time refining their strokes in order to swim faster. Each clinic will also include instruction/refinements on the starts and turns for the swim strokes being covered for that clinic.

03 Level I YMCA Swim Official Certification Courses
This course is designed to certify officials for the YMCA of the USA’s Competitive Swimming Program in the areas of Stroke & Turn Judge, Relay Take-off Judge, Place Judge and Timer. The course focuses on the specific duties and responsibilities of the above officials prior to, during and after a meet. The course also familiarizes the participants with the facilities requirements for the meet, matters relating to eligibility to participate in and entry into the meet, and the roles of the Chief Judge, Starter and Referee. Following the course, the participants must complete an on-line test and attain a score of 80% or higher.
PREREQUISITES: New candidates for certification as YMCA Level I Official must be at least 21 years old and be associated with a local YMCA sponsored swim team.

USA-S Certified Officials who meet age and participation requirements for Level II may go directly into Level II without first becoming a Level I Certified Official.
Candidates for re-certification must have worked at least 12 sessions as a YMCA certified official over the prior three-year certification period and present a completed Record of Meet Experience form evidencing such sessions worked. For dual YMCA/USA-S certified officials, up to six of the required sessions may be from USA-S meets.
04 Administrative Swim Official Certifications (AO)
This course is designed to certify administrative (dry deck) swim officials for the YMCA of the USA’s Competitive Swimming Program. The course focuses on the specific duties and responsibilities of the Administrative Swim Official prior to, during and after a meet. The course also briefly reviews for the participants the facilities and staffing requirements for a meet, including matters relating to eligibility to participate in and entry into the meet. Following the course, the participants must complete an on-line test and attain a score of 80% or higher

05 YMCA Level 2 Swim Official
This Level 2 Swim Official course is designed to certify or recertify participants to be Swim Officials for YMCA Competitive Swimming in the areas of Referee, Starter and Chief Judge. The course focuses on the specific duties and responsibilities of the above officials prior to, during and after a swim meet. The course also reviews the facilities and staffing requirements for a meet, rules for swimming various strokes, matters relating to eligibility and other key roles of the official. Successful completion of a written examination is required to pass the course.
Course participants desiring initial Level 2 certification must have been a fully certified YMCA Level I or USA-S official for at least one year. In addition, they must provide a copy of their YMCA Level I Certification or USA-S Official designation and documentation that they have served a minimum of 8 sessions as a fully certified YMCA and/or USA-S Swim Official.
Course participants intending to use this program to recertify as YMCA Level II officials must provide documentation that they have served a minimum of 12 sessions over the prior three-year certification period.

06 Level 2 YMCA Swim Official "RECERTIFICATION"
This course is designed to recertify existing, experienced YMCA Level II officials for YMCA of the USA’s Competitive Swimming Program, primarily in the areas of Referee, Starter and Chief Judge.
The course focuses on current changes to the rules and regulations and other current topics of interest. Following the formal presentation, the participants must complete an online, open book, take-home test and attain a score of 80% or higher.
This clinic is designed to be presented as a seminar focusing on current rules changes and areas of interest for these very experienced officials and should be conducted at a higher level commensurate with their experience. In addition to the YMCA core values and rules changes and situations, topics such as starting protocols, meet management, etc. may be discussed and outlines for these topics are included in the materials. It is the responsibility of the trainers to determine which of the optional segments will be presented, based on local conditions and needs. In any case, a free exchange of ideas and experiences among the trainers and participants is strongly encouraged.
This course is a Virtual Course (ZOOM) 8:00am-10:00am The Trainer will send course materials 1 week before the course, and the ZOOM Link will be sent 1 day before the course.

High School Fee
Our Swim Team High School Fee is for any High School Swimmer who will also be practicing/competing with their high school team. These High School Swimmers may only attend a maximum of 2 practices per week after November 11, 2024. Full YMCA White practices can be resumed after the High School Season is over. Our High School Swimmer’s are expected to attend YMCA Meets unless there is a high school meet they are required to attend.
The High School Swimmers need to pay the $35 per family Booster Club Fee when registering for the team.
The High School practice Season Fee can be paid in full when registering for the team, or the automatic Drafts option is available. There are no refunds or draft cancelations in the event a high school swimmer opts not to finish the season, as we only offer a Season Fee with the option of payment plan or payment in full.
If opting to use the Payment Plan, the first draft payment is due upon registration, the second on November 1, 2024, the third on December 1, 2024, the fourth on January 1, 2025 and the final draft on February 1, 2025.
Practice Sessions: High School Swimmers attend our White Practices:
Monday, Tuesdsay, Wednesday Thursday: 6:30-8:00pm & Saturday 7:30-9:00am.
PLEASE NOTE:
- ALL SWIM TEAM MEMBERS MUST BE YMCA MEMBERS
- There is no Saturday practice on days we have swim meets.
- We ask that swimmers attend a minimum of 2 practices per week.
- Swimmers are expected to attend team swim meets. Coaches need to be notified if a swimmer is unable to make a meet.

Swim Team Booster Fee
Our Booster Fee is $35 per family (not per swimmer). This fee goes into our Parent Booster Account and is used to pay the extra’s for our team such as team parties, end of season swimmer gifts, a team T-Shirt for the fall/winter season, League dues, Travel Expenses for coaches for away meets (mileage) and for the end of season meets like YMCA Districts, coaches hotel & meal expenses.
We offer our coaches the opportunity to attend an annual Coaches Clinic to help them stay up to date on training techniques. The Booster Club covers the cost of the clinic as well as hotel, meal & mileage for this.
Whenever possible our coaches carpool to away meets to keep costs as low as possible.
The Booster Club also cover the cost of equipment replacement/repairs for equipment only used by our swim team.
